Unlike most of the other staging photos I've shared on this blog, this post isn't about faux brick walls or bizarre master bedroom hammocks. This one celebrates a highly organized and efficient seller.
The atmosphere was relaxing, like walking into a comfortable and well run bed and breakfast. My clients were immediately put at ease. Sure, the interior was dated yet everything inside, outside, and even in the garage was put away in immaculate perfection. There wasn't a spec of dust, all the books were neatly displayed on the bookshelves, even the basement workshop was inviting.
Here's what I'm talking about. Take a look at this picture.
You're looking at garden hoses, neatly coiled around a rock section of patio against a perfectly manicured lawn. It might as well be a meditation garden, it was so carefully put away.
Should all sellers be this obsessive when staging their house? I guess that depends. How serious are you about selling?
Maintaining a perfectly orderly house is a challenge, especially when minimalism is the goal. Potential buyers tromping through your home, often with short notice, is usually not a pleasant experience. This is one of the reasons we focus on getting the listing right - repairs, staging, pricing, photography, and marketing strategy - before we allow showings.
This seller is doing it right.
